WEEKLY SPELLING PLAN
Choose 3 different activities to do this week involving your spelling words.  Turn in the 3 activities (preferably on only one sheet) on Thursdays. This will be a weekly homework grade. (If you made 100 on your spelling test last week, you only need to do 1 activity this week!) Please do NOT use yellow-it is very hard to see and grade.

--Spelling Pathway-Look at word, study word, cover word, see word in your mind, then write word on paper.  Check to see if you spelled it correctly.  If not, then try again.
--ABC order-Write your words in alphabetical order.
--Rainbow Words-Write your words three times, once in each of three colors.  This counts as 2 activities IF you write the word 3 times in a row before going to the next word.
--Silly sentences-Use all your words in as few sentences as possible.
--ABC order-Write your words in alphabetical order.
--Other Handed-If you are right-handed, write with your left, or vice versa.
--Mystery word-make mystery word clues for each spelling word. (See examples below.) This counts as 2 activities.

One of these activities
MUST be written in cursive.

Graded Papers

Every week we will send home graded papers in your child’s Weekly Folder.  Please look over these papers carefully to see where your child may need more practice at home.  Also, look over the other papers and help them complete any work they may not have finished in class.

Activities

Our activities will be from 10:45-11:25 daily.

Monday – Music
Tuesday – PE*
Wednesday – Art
Thursday – Spanish

*Wear tennis shoes

Snacks

Around 9.30 am each morning we will take a short time for snacks.  These snacks should be able to be eaten in 5 minutes, should not create a mess or sticky fingers, and should not require a spoon or fork.  Snacks should not be candy, cookies, cupcakes, etc., but rather nutritious in nature (suggestions-fruit, nuts, celery carrots, cheese, etc.)  Also, students may keep a closable bottle of water  at their desks.  Please do not send other drinks for snack time (they could spill and make messes and would be better saved for lunch time).  Lunch time is 11:35-12:00 each day.

Dear Parents,

I'm giving this week as time for students to either make up any missing English paragraphs or to redo one for a better grade. You can check on Engrade to see which one(s) may need to be done/redone. These assignments need to be turned in by 10/2/08. Please also check for missing assignments in the other subjects. Those are also due in by 10/2/08. Have a great week! www.fcagriffin.com

Thank you,
